Upcoming Workshops
Cape Pottery & Supply offers a wide variety of workshops for potters of all skill levels. If you've never worked in a studio before and want to participate in Open Studio we ask that you first take one of our workshops** to familiarize yourself with working with clay and general studio operations in order to attend an Open Studio.
Any workshops in the method you wish to pursue will allow you to join Open Studio with the purchase of an Open Studio pass. Workshops requiring previous experience will be noted. Most are open to any skill level. Clay and studio glazes are included in the price of each workshop.
Anyone new to clay and and throwing on the wheel will benefit from this introductory course. Taught by a variety of instructors, it's a three week workshop on the basics of clay and centering and throwing on the wheel.
Anyone with no experience in clay must a wheel-throwing workshop in order to gain access to open studio passes. These workshops are ongoing and feature a number of different instructors.
Introduction to Hand Building
Hand building is a great way to create beautiful ceramics and Cape Pottery and Supply is well-stocked for all sorts of hand-building techniques.
Like our introductory wheel throwing workshop, this hand building course is mandatory for beginners who have never worked in a clay studio. Once you've learned the basics in this class or one of our other hand building workshops, you'll be free to explore the medium with open studio passes.

The Wheel with Ron Dean
Ron Dean has been creating stunning wheel thrown pottery pieces since 1969 and has been at the heart of the Cape ceramics scene since the early 1980s.
We are so grateful and honorted to offer our community these workshops with Ron. Anyone interested in wheel throwing will benefit greatly from his deep well of knowledge, skill, and love of this medium.
Ron's studio and workshop, The Barn, are located in West Barnstable.
Family Time: Sunday Paint your Own Potttery
Looking for a fun family activity? Look no further!
Sign up on the scheduler below for one of two open paint workshops for families on Sunday afternoons.
For a small fee and the price of the pieces you choose, you will have access to the studio for time to colorfully glaze your own unique pieces. Choose from a wide variety of pre-bisqued pottery. Paint it and come back at a later date to pick up your finished pieces.
The Art of Coiling: Building a Lamp

In this workshop with Joan Zagrobelny, you will learn how to create a unique and functional tabletop lamp. All aspects of creating the lamp will be demonstrated through hands-on, step by step instructions.

Handbuild A Block Character Vase with Ariel from Siggy Ceramics
Coming Soon! Come build your own character block vase! This project hones the skills required for successful slab-building while also allowing for playful creativity in the design of your character. It's beginner-friendly and participants will learn to use the slab-builder and basic hand-building tools.
